Maximilian’s and Sidewood Estate, Winery Wedding Venue, Adelaide Hills

I met Emma & Blair a couple of years ago, I was changing my approach to photography and put a call out engaged couples. Emma was shortlisted and told Blair about the competition 5mins before our skype call. Part of my new approach was helping couples who feel awkward in front of the camera to relax and connect on a genuine level. You can check out some of those shots here.

Fast forward to 2018 – and wow. The planning and the detail of this wedding – from the custom made Deer Antler arbour, to the first look in the forest, and the amazing choice of venue at Maximilian and Sidewood Estate in Vardun – was nothing short of beautiful and touching. This wedding was featured on a local television show – you can checkout the snippet at the venue’s facebook page here.

The best part wasn’t how this wedding looked, despite having it in spades (Emma & Blair, and pretty much the whole wedding guest list was super easy on the eye), but how much emotion and feeling bubbled up to the surface. I love tears at a wedding. To me, there’s no shame in letting your emotions overwhelm you, especially when you’re surrounded by the love and support of those who have seen your relationship blossom and grow.

I can’t endorse enough taking the reigns as much as possible for your wedding day – it is after all, you’re once in a lifetime event. The more personal you can make it, the more meaningful it will be.
