Hallet Cove Beach Engagement Session

Sometimes you meet a couple and you want everything to be perfect for them. Bek and Jake are this couple. It’s rare that I have bad luck with weather, but I have to say that the good old Adelaide weather botched our first attempt at a shoot. Gale force winds, rain and unrelenting clouds forced us to re-book our shoot. Luckily second time around, the weather came good for their engagement session.

I don’t think these guys will mind me sharing that they are “camera shy”. In these circumstances, my first instruction is to allow my couples to embrace the awkwardness together. It might sound counter intuitive, but the reason behind it is simple – it allows their relationship to come to the fore front, rather than their own inhibitions. It’s our gut instincts to nurture and care for the ones we love and when they feel uncomfortable, we want to come to their rescue. This trust and intimacy is at the core of what I’m after in all my photos. Allowing my couples to get to that point as quickly as possible means they can begin to relax knowing there is no judgement. Especially from me.

I love to showcase our unique state and some of the locations we sometimes take for granted. When our shoot at the northern beaches didn’t turn out. I took them to one my my old haunts at the beautiful Hallet Cove beach conservation park meant we had access to the beautiful southern beaches, the dunes if we wanted and also the unique cliffs and cave carved out by the ocean.
