Adelaide Botanic Gardens Engagement Session

Most photographers get nervous when they take photos of another photographer. For me it’s an opportunity to make something with a fellow creative. Taking the time to understand my couples is a big deal. When I first sent through my engagement questionnaire to Sharon and Manning, I realised that I had to tap into their playful nature, but needed the privacy of an intimate setting. The Adelaide Botanic Gardens was the perfect location and morning, the perfect time. So I planned their botanic gardens engagement session.

I’ve mentioned in previous posts about letting my couples embrace the awkwardness, but this one didn’t need that. Working with Sharon and Manning was like a well rehearsed machine. Although they had no idea how to feel comfortable in front of the camera, they took instruction very well and soon the essence of their relationship came through. Gentle, humble and full of fun.

Sometimes in sessions I like to shoot film, the look of it keeps me honest and allows me the time to talk to my couples without having to check the back of the camera. Trusting my knowledge and artistic eye frees up my creative mind and gives me the unique look that has hopefully brought you here!
